2010-11 New Orleans Hornets NBA Predictions and Odds

Despite the rumors that were circulating, Chris Paul is still the point guard of the New Orleans Hornets and that, at the very least, ensures the relevancy of the franchise. The team was clearly not big enough for two sensational point guards, but it was Darren Collison who was dealt away instead of Paul, the clear franchise player.

Paul is one of the few constants this season with the franchise. New General Manger Dell Demps was hired and he brought on board new Coach Monty Williams, the fifth coach in nine years in New Orleans. They found a way to keep Paul happy and keep him in New Orleans, which set the stage for the August four-team blockbuster that ultimately brought Trevor Ariza to the Hornets while Collison ended up with the Pacers.

Other holdovers from last season are leading scorer David West (19 points per game) and leading rebounder Emeka Okafor (10.4 rebounds per game) and shooting guard Marcus Thornton (14.5 ppg). Those three, along with Ariza and Paul, make up a more than adequate starting five.

The depth will be provided by recently acquired shooting guard Marco Belinelli (Toronto), sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic and back-up point guard Mustafa Shakur, who will hopefully for the Hornets fans will not be needed too much in place of a fragile Paul. Quincy Pondexter, the No. 26 overall NBA Draft pick this year, could make an impact as a wing player off the bench.

The New Orleans Hornets schedule starts at home Wednesday Oct. 27 against Milwaukee. Seven of the Hornets first 11 games are at home. They get an early shot at the Miami Heat on Nov. 5 in New Orleans in their fifth game of the season.

New Orleans Hornets Predictions: Offseason Moves
It’s not often you can lose Collison in a trade and still come away with an improved team, but that is what New Orleans did as the clear winners in the four-team trade in August. Ariza has championship experience, he remains hungry and he continues to improve. The Hornets came out like bandits again in dumping first-round bust Julian Wright off to Toronto in exchange for the Italian Belinelli, a versatile bench player with a tremendous perimeter shot. The only other major loss for New Orleans was losing veteran James Posey as part of the four-team trade.

2010-11 New Orleans Hornets NBA Odds
The New Orleans Hornets odds to win the NBA Championship this season are +8000. Their odds to reach the Western Conference Finals are +1500 and to win the conference they are listed at +3000, placing them right in the middle of the pack of teams in the Western Conference, according to the oddsmakers.

2010-11 New Orleans Hornets NBA Picks
After years of uncertainty it looks like a plan is in place with this team. Paul is the point guard and the franchise of the team and Ariza could end up being the glue that holds everything together. The center position with Okafor, who does not score much, and mop-up man Aaron Gray behind him looks to be a major weakness and a reason why New Orleans will have to fight just to get back into the postseason after a 37-45 campaign last year. Playoffs are a legitimate goal but this team does not have the makeup to get past the first round.

NFL Week 9 Matches – Carolina Panthers Vs New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints are near to one of the best ever record for their team. New Orleans Saints (7 wins), the unbeaten team in the NFL week 9. If they win the match against Carolina Panthers at Super dome on Nov 8 at 4.05 PM, then the present team is the first team to record a 8 wins in row for New Orleans.

Carolina Panthers with Three wins & 4 Losses stayed at a critical position. With 100% win rate New Orleans Saints are the hot favorites of the match. Carolina Panthers are also scored a win in the last match against Arizona cardinals. But For Carolina panthers Charles Godfrey (S), Muhsin Muhammad (WR), Dante Rosario (TE), and Thomas Davis (LB) are injured.

For New Orleans Saints also the injuries are worrying. Players Sedrick Ellis (DT), Scott Fujita (LB), Jermon Bushrod (T), John Carney (K) got injured. But for the NFL side saints is the only team unbeaten staying top with 39. Points.

My favorite for this match New Orleans Saints.

Indianapolis Colts Vs Houston Texas

This could be another tight match on NFL week 9. Both teams are heading with headstrong attitude. Indianapolis Colts is one of the three team which are unbeaten upto now in the NFL Regular season.

Indianapolis Colts are at 7th position with total points of 28.1, top team in pass yds. The team is looking weaker in rush yds.

Indianapolis beaten St Louis, San Francisco in an unbelievable passion. They have scored 3, 6, 3, 6 and total of 18 to beat San Francisco who scored 7, 7, 0, 0.

This team is going strong with our any injuries for now. Peyton Manning, Joseph Addai, Donald Brown, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark are the key players for Indianapolis Colts.

On the other hand Houston Texans are strong opponents for Indianapolis. With a total of 24.8 points Houston’s are at 12th position in the team. Houston has played 8 of their matches with 3 loses, 5 wins. Houston’s also in great form by winning the last three consecutive matches. Great Point for Houston’s also is no injuries are reported for them.

My Pick for this match is Indianapolis Colts.

Nfl – New Orleans Saints Take On Pittsburgh Steelers

Ok, so lets talk about the New Orleans Saints. Whats going on with the defending Super Bowl Champions, huh? Ok, so lets go back for a second. Sure, the Saints were known nationally as the New Orleans Aints, because for too long they had not made it to the Playoffs, then they didnt win in the Playoffs and then the 2009 regular season kicked in and quarterback Drew Brees and Co. went on to put and end to the hegemony of the traditional big teams in football. They had a fabulous season, and they were bombproof in the postseason.
But heck, its about time that the Saints get out of the Super Bowl hangover, get their act together and start playing some real football. Sure, there is no need to panic. The Saints are in a much more comfortable place then, lets say the Dallas Cowboys or the San Francisco 49ers, but heck, one cant help but to notice that the Saints have lost their last two games in a row, including a noticeable upset against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
So yeah, they managed to defeat the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but they failed to crush the Arizona Diamond Backs and the Cleveland Browns by not making the field goal at the end of the game. I mean, they almost won, but almost wont cut it if this guys really want to make it into the postseason and then have a shot at the Super Bowl.
Drew Brees is not at his finest. He has had 7 interceptions in his last 2 games and defensively, things are not looking that much brighter. The Saints have lost two games against rookie quarterbacks, and thats never a good sign. Particularly considering that this weekend they have to face no other then the Pittsburgh Steelers who are coming in with Ben Roethlisberger, who despite not at his best shape ever, is certainly more experienced and a more precise quarterback then what the Saints have been dealing with lately.
At a -1 points favorite on the spread, and playing at home, the Saints are expected to make an effort and secure this win at home. The Steelers on the other hand have won 4 games in the road, and are looking strong. Its going to get weird and funky this Halloween Sunday at the Big Easy.

Payton, MVP Brees revel in glory of New Orleans’ Super Bowl

“I’m not sure if it’s completely sunk in yet,” Brees said at Monday morning’s news conference at the convention center in Fort Lauderdale. “It seems like as the minutes go by, it slowly does.

“Our victory last night was the culmination of four years of hard work, fighting through a lot of adversity, ups and downs and more importantly than that, representing a city that has been through so much,” Brees said.

Along the way, people have asked me so many times, ‘Do you look at it as a burden or extra pressure? Do you feel like you’re carrying the weight of the city on your teams’ shoulders.’ I said, ‘No, not at all. We look at it as a responsibility. Our city, our fans, gave us strength, and we owe this to them. That’s made all the difference. … There’s no people that you would want to win for more than the city of New Orleans. So it’s an honor.”

As Brees spoke, Saints coach Sean Payton NFL jersey sat off to the side, elbows on knees, face buried in his hands. When it was his turn to speak, he leaned on the podium, clutching the Vince Lombardi Trophy in his right hand. He recounted Lombardi’s grandson, Saints assistant Joe Lombardi, posing for a photo with the sterling silver hardware awarded each year to the Super Bowl winner.

“Joe Lombardi, his father, Vince Jr., and his two brothers sat and posed with this trophy, the four of them, while pictures were taken. And I just thought to myself, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,'” Payton said. “If you believe in heaven, and you believe Vince Lombardi is there looking down on his grandson, it doesn’t get any better.

This is a guy that coaches our quarterbacks, coaches Drew Brees, and here a trophy that’s named after his grandfather.”

Payton then smiled and added that he had the trophy in bed with him while he slept early Monday morning.

“You can’t get enough of this,” Payton said. “Rolled over it a couple times. I probably drooled on it. But man, there’s nothing like it.”

Payton said when all was quiet in the MLB jersey team hotel around 3 a.m., he offered a prayer of thanks for his team and his experience in New Orleans, where he became an NFL head coach for the first time in 2006, with the city still largely in ruin only months after Hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005.

“When (Saints general manager) Mickey Loomis hired me in 2006, not having been from New Orleans, it would be hard to describe the relationship between the fans and the players there, and it became apparent to me that football was obviously very important, but it was much bigger than football,” Payton said. “When we got into coaching or playing, we got into it for certain reasons, and yet the reasons in New Orleans far exceeded what we ever expected.”

The theme for the Saints in 2009 became: A season of firsts. They opened with their first 13-game winning streak, which earned them a first No. 1 seeding in the NFC playoffs. That led to a first home NFC Championship Game, then a first Super Bowl, and now New Orleans’ first major professional sports championship.

Before this season, the Saints had just eight winning seasons — and two playoff victories — in their previous 42 years combined. The Saints had to win three playoff games over three great quarterbacks — Kurt Warnr Brett Favre and Peyton Manning — to win the title this season.

The Saints’ run to the Super Bowl championship captured the attention of football fans everywhere. The Nielsen Co. says the gameNFL jersey received its highest overnight ratings in 23 years, meaning there’s a strong likelihood that it will be the most-watched Super Bowl when the final numbers are released later Monday.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called this Super Bowl “clearly more than a game.”

“I keep thinking of the word ‘magical,'” he said. “When you think about the relationship between the Saints and the Gulf Coast and the city of New Orleans, it was more than just a football game and more than just a football team. The hopes, the dreams and the struggles of that community were all reflected in that football team. It was a great night for the people in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region.”
