Oscars 2013: Adele hits the red carpet at the 85th Academy Awards

Adele showed up at the 2013 Oscars held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 24, 2013) in Hollywood, California. The 24-year-old singer looked gorgeous in a beaded black tulle Jenny Packham dress with sheer sleeves on the red carpet. She accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Adele kept her make-up fairly simple with minimal colour, but opted for fake eyelashes to accentuate her eyes. The British songstress was all smiles as she shuffled through the arrivals area. The Grammy winner showed off her figure by putting her arm on her hip, stopping to pose for the shutterbugs and greeted fans along the way. Adele gave a riveting performance of her hit song “Skyfall,” before winning the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 85th Academy Awards. The London-born singer was clearly overwhelmed as she struggled to hold back tears when accepting the award with her co-writer Paul Epworth. The young star was hot favourite for the 2013 Oscar, having won the Golden Globe for the same category, as well as the Brit award for single of the year.

Oscars 2013: Best & Worst Dresses at the 85th Academy Awards

The Academy Awards red carpet surely never ceases to amaze. After a number of awards shows, the 2013 Oscars is the culmination of red carpets, and with so much competition there, the celebs undoubtedly put their most well-dressed foot forward. They need to stand out from the crowd as well as impress with their fearless fashion choices. From Jessica Chastain, Amy Adams to Jennifer Lawrence and more, all of these actresses shined at the Oscars. It seemed that all eyes were on the starlets as they strutted down the red carpet and accepted unending accolades from adoring fans. Whether opting for an embroidered cap-sleeve gown, or a blue velvet dress, it’s clear this year’s best dressed all deserved a standing ovation. However, the red carpet at the 2013 Oscars was also a sea of decadent dresses. Here, we have compiled a list of the A-listers who stunned us and chosen the worst looks of the evening.

Best-dressed stars

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain arrived at the 2013 Academy Awards at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday night (February 24). The “Zero Dark Thirty” actress was dressed in a gorgeous Armani Prive gown that showed off her slim figure. Miss Chastain accessorized her number with Harry Winston jewels and wore her fiery hair in soft waves to finish off her look.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence rocked a stunning in Dior Haute Couture gown as she attended the 2013 Oscars. The new face of Miss Dior and 22-year-old Oscar nominee donned beaded Chopard jewels which dangled down her back. She completed her appearance with her hair pulled back, looking perfectly elegant on the red carpet.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams made a dazzling arrival at the 85th Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday evening (February 24, 2013). “The Master” actress was incredibly elegant and stood out in a powder blue princess dress by Oscar de la Renta paired with Moa jewelry. Amy Adams were all smiles when she posed for the shutterbugs at the event.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon was a beauty in blue while walking the red carpet at the 2013 Academy Awards. The “Legally Blonde” cutie opted for a Louis Vuitton dress and jewelry with the side-swept hair for the occasion. Ms. Witherspoon wore Christian Louboutin heels to complete her appearance, looking gorgeous as she greeted fans along the way before heading inside to present an award at the ceremony.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried was right on trend in a flesh-colored Alexander McQueen gown as she showed up at this year’s Academy Awards in Hollywood. The “Les Miserables” actress combined her dress with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, looking very beautiful at the show.

Worst-dressed stars

Halle Berry

Halle Berry hit the red carpet at the 85th Academy Awards on Sunday night (February 24, 2013). The “Cloud Atlas” star and Academy Award winner was clad in a custom Versace dress that featured a plunging neckline. She completed her look with Jimmy Choo’s “Vibe” platform sandal for the occasion.

Jennifer Aniston

It seemed that Jennifer Aniston failed to impress as she attended the 2013 Oscars. The “Horrible Bosses” actress donned a Valentino dress that she paired with Fred Leighton jewels. Ms. Aniston also carried a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch while hitting the red carpet for some serious shutterbug action prior to the big show.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman was accompanied by her hubby Keith Urban as she showed up at the ceremony. The “Paperboy” actress, who hit the stage to present during the show, opted for a dress, shoes and bag by L’Wren Scott. 45-year-old star Nicole Kidman paired her ensemble with Fred Leighton jewels for the night.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway is one of the stars who landed on our worst-dressed list at the 2013 Oscars. The “Les Miserables” actress rocked a light pink duchesse satin backless column gown by Prada which she chose only three hours before the show. Anne Hathaway accessorized her number with Tiffany & Co. diamonds and carried Roger Vivier’s “Pilgrim” clutch to finish off her look.

Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy were all smiles at the 85th Academy Awards in Hollywood on February 24, 2013. The 42-year-old funny lady and former Oscar nominee rocked a retro style to the event. Unfortunately, her overly-teased hair took the spotlight from her dove grey David Meister dress. The unflattering jersey material and awkward jeweled embellishments also didn’t work in her favor towards landing on the best-dressed list.
