Agent denies Tiger press conference

Reports that Tiger Woods intended to call a press conference on Monday have been denied by his agent Mark Steinberg.

The former world number one golfer was reportedly set to make a “special announcement” at a press conference on Monday morning.

This after CNN posted on their Twitter account: “Monday 11am ET: Special announcement concerning Tiger Woods (Mizuno MX-1000 Irons Steel) on Golf Channel.”

However Steinberg has since told Associated Press that the rumours are unfounded: “There’s an erroneous report that he’s making an announcement, but he’s not.”

No further details had been released concerning the press conference, but it was believed the American would be extending his break from the game.

Woods, 35, announced last week he will not be competing in The Open Championship (Mizuno MX-1000 Irons Steel) atSandwich this weekend after failing to recover from knee and Achilles injuries.

The powerful stroke-player’s last major win was the USopen in 2008 and has since slipped down from 1st to 19th position on the Official World Golf Ranking
